Use AirPods Pro 3 for heart rate
AirPods Pro 3 can provide a live heart-rate reading in myPotential on iOS 26 or later. Put them in before you start the session. When they are worn and a reading is available, myPotential can use it automatically.
Apple Watch and AirPods
iOS uses one heart-rate sensor at a time. If your Apple Watch is providing the reading, your AirPods will not be used for that session. To use the AirPods reading, start without using the watch as a heart-rate source.
Get a reading from your AirPods
- Wear both AirPods Pro 3 and make sure they fit snugly in your ears.
- Start the session on your iPhone.
- On the pre-session screen, wait for a current heart-rate number before you tap Start.
The ear-tip fit test in iPhone Settings can help you find a fit that works for both sound and the sensor. Wipe the sensor if there is moisture, wax, or residue on it. Cold ears, piercings, and metal jewellery near the sensor can also affect the reading.
If AirPods heart rate does not appear
myPotential needs access to Heart Rate in the Health app. Open Health on your iPhone, check myPotential's Heart Rate access, then return to the session.
If you use a Bluetooth strap as well, add it from myPotential rather than pairing it in iPhone Settings. A strap paired in Settings can hide the AirPods reading or create duplicate readings.
- Open Settings → Bluetooth on your iPhone.
- Tap the information button next to the strap.
- Choose Forget This Device.
- Return to myPotential and use Settings → Heart Rate → Monitor → Scan for Monitors.
