Before you start a session
Each session opens with a short pre-session check-in. It asks how you are feeling, shows the available heart-rate sources, and, where needed, asks you to choose the equipment or location for the session.
Complete the check-in
Choose the response that best describes how you feel today. If you select the most severe option, myPotential shows a Rest today choice. Follow the advice you have agreed with your clinician when deciding what to do.
For cardio, choose the equipment you will use. Strength sessions may ask whether you are at home or in a gym. The app then uses the matching version of that session.
Wait for a current heart-rate reading
The Start button is available when you have completed the check-in and myPotential has a current heart-rate reading. Put on and wake your Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 3, or Bluetooth heart-rate monitor before opening the session. Give the reading a moment to appear on the pre-session screen.
If the app asks for permission, choose Open Settings, then allow access to Health data. You can also review this in Settings → Health → Data Access on your iPhone.
If a reading still does not appear, check the fit and connection of the source, then return to the pre-session screen. See Heart-rate monitors for help with each source.
Review the session first
Tap the information button in the top-right corner of the pre-session screen to open a session overview. It shows the activities, equipment, and phases before you start.
For cardio timing and pacing, see Cardio sessions. For strength exercises, see Strength sessions.
